The Campus Renovation Project

The Campus Monneret project stems from the renovation of a previous property with the aim of providing off-site students with a facility that is not only comfortable but also well-maintained and technologically advanced. The Campus effectively takes the legacy of the place, previously occupied by a boarding house for young people and workers, and updates it through a careful conversion project, promoted by the Social Housing Foundation, in collaboration with the City of Milan and in partnership with InvestiRE Sgr.

Structured in three buildings characterized by different heights and modulated around a central body, the Monneret Campus has a distribution created to encourage interaction among guests, where the entire ground-floor area is used as a communal part, with study rooms, computerized classrooms, gymnasium and relaxation areas. Several housing solutions are proposed and dedicated to students and faculty, with a total capacity of 268 beds.

The choice of materials: functionality and high performance

For the implementation of the project, all materials were selected on the basis of their good impact resistance and low maintainability. The request of the client has always been to use materials that are easy to clean and require little maintenance.

In particular, MVB’s VERONA bricks, in Luserna coloring, were chosen for the paving of the inner courtyard of the Campus. Their distinctive finish, evoking the hues and texture of stone pavers, harmonizes well with the context, defining an additional welcoming and livable relationship space.

VERONA is a modular system in four formats, with reduced thicknesses and elegant aesthetics. Durable and high-performance, it maintains its stability over time thanks to its self-locking system. VERONA cement-based screeds incorporate selected fine aggregates into their design mix, giving the flooring a natural beauty.

From a renovation project by GaS – Goring and Straja Architects, the new Campus Monneret university residence in Milan is born, whose floors in the large interior courtyard were made with MVB Bagattini’s VERONA solid self-locking block flooring.
